The raw materials used in the melting process are coarse stainless steel scrap, turnings and slag formers. After initial melting the metal is transferred to the AOD vessel where it is subjected to three steps of refining: decarburization, reduction, and desulphurization. The AOD operation also involves refining, stirring and tapping the heat in a teeming ladle.

    Production Workers in the Melt Shop can be involved in any of the following functions:
