**Overview**
**Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Machine Operator 1 based in West Hazleton, PA. This opening is for 3rd Shift, which operates during the hours of 10:30pm-7am** **. This position will operate MOEN machinery.**

The Operator is responsible for operating a given number of plastic blow molding machines (including in-line equipment), and makes necessary adjustments or minor repairs to ensure production of containers is made in a safe, efficient and high quality manner. The primary duties of an Operator include:
+ Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.

+ Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned
+ Operate a group of plastic blow molding machines and auxiliary equipment producing a container in a safe and high quality method.

+ Perform basic processing of injection and/or blow molding machines to improve machine efficiency and reduce scrap.

+ Monitor HDPE/PET resin (if applicable), dryer, material handling and color systems for appropriate processing conditions.
+ Make frequent on time quality checks on products being produced from established quality standards.
+ Assist other Operators and maintenance personnel on mechanical repairs.
+ Perform assigned preventative maintenance work.
+ Maintain work area to acceptable safety and housekeeping standards.
+ Complete and file all required documentation in an orderly and timely manner.
+ Communicate with the Production Shift Supervisor to coordinate production line support staff in accomplishing the lines’ objectives.

+ Perform minor troubleshooting and programming on the line. Notify leads and supervisors of any major problems or questions.
+ Operate equipment to minimize the generation and maximize the consumption of regrind, purge and scrap within customer specifications where applicable.
+ Properly identify regrind and chunk produced.
+ Communicate processing information to designated personnel on incoming shift. Assist other Operators as needed.
+ Assist in the training of new Operators.

The Machine Operator role at the Hanover location reports to the Packing Room Supervisor and takes day-to-day direction from the Lead Machine Operator. You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:
+ Ensures that production standards are met by operating all packing room machines at specified efficiency (speed). Packing room machines include: Hayssens, box machines, box tapers, stretch wrapper, diverter gates, case labelers and sonic sensors.
+ Determines upcoming production needs by studying production sheet to anticipate changeovers and assigned products to machines. Uses this information to have correct film, co-dates, stickers, hot stamps, etc. ready for next order.

Principle Accountabilities:
Assist with machine set-up in accordance with proper setup techniques.
Monitor box quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, scoring, folding, print, proper placement/application of the glue, etc., and communicate quality related issues back to operator and helper(s).
Ensure finished boxes are properly stacked for unitizing and/or palletizing.
Able to understand and follow instructions on factory card, as well as instruction given by operator.
Maximize the utilization of equipment by effectively assisting the operator to run the machinery at available capacity and speed.
Assist with training helper(s) with job duties on the machine.
Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Lean Enterprise and Quality Data.
Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
Adheres to production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals.
Reports any unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor.
Work with crew members for maximum efficiency of operation.
Switch duties with other crew members, which may include operating, feeding, pulling, stacking, and packing, as required.
Comply with all company policies, procedures and work rules, including but not limited to safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Regular attendance and timeliness are required.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED.
Lifting up to 45 pounds.
Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice, both during the week and weekends.
Ability to work in manufacturing environment, with varying temperatures based on season, around machinery, and heavy forklift traffic.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in a packaging or other manufacturing environment.
Experience in folding/gluing machine work.
Prior experience working as a crewmember on a machine crew.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to work within a team, effectively communicating with members, and work independently.
Ability to follow instruction and execute written and verbal instructions.

Basic Job Functions:
