Job Summary
Setup and operate saws, lathes, drills, milling machines and grinders in order to machine newtooling and to repair or rebuild existing tooling or equipment. Moderate to heavy lifting isoccasionally required to set up and to load the raw material into the machines. As needed,required to perform tasks in the plant such as repairing equipment in place, installing new toolingor components. Work performed in the plant may involve climbing, lifting, or using forklifts. Occasionally will be required to use an acetylene torch and arc or mig welder.
Primary Duties
Machine parts to the specifications on a print to tolerances within .001 of an inch using all of theabove listed machines as well as hand tools. This requires excellent hand / eye coordination tostart and stop the automatic feed functions of the various machines. Must also be able to usemicrometers, dial indicators, gauges and other measuring devices to ensure that parts aremachined within the specified tolerances. Productivity and accuracy are both essential.
Qualifications
Excellent hand / eye coordination is required. Must be able to communicate with supervisor,engineering as well as fellow employees. Good vision is essential to properly set up and operatemachines to specified tolerances.

Our team at the Grantley Plant custom design, develops, manufactures, ships, installs, and maintains industrial HVAC equipment for Navy vessels of all sizes. This job consists of performing operations involved to set up and operate a CNC, DNC multi axis machine(s).

How you will do it:
1. Use tool preset machine, precision measuring instruments, hand and hand power tools, deburr tools and appropriate material handling equipment.
2. Work from drawings, process sheets, specifications, tape program, instructions, or visual display units.
3. Perform fixture change-overs, loading and unloading of production parts, on-line piece parts inspection and manual data input to insure specified finishes, tolerances.

• Comply with all federal and state environmental, health and safety regulations as well as any safety policies and protocols outlined by the company.
• Must be capable of working with blueprints, sketches and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
• Individual will be assigned to the Plastics Value Stream and must be proficient in the operation of all CNC, semi-auto, and manual machines utilized by Grade 15 and lower level operators.
• Will be responsible for assisting (when requested) in the programming of the CNC equipment to manufacture various components, including first article approval and the operation of all necessary inspection equipment.
• Must be able to run jobs and edit programs using bar puller, live tooling and automation.
• Must be able to setup and run production parts of more complex geometries (including, but not limited to grooves, notches, etc.) and within the allotted setup and run time.
• Perform fabrication of lathe products, using customer or GT drawings with minimum supervision achieving production efficiency required including set up, troubleshooting and run.
• Make adjustments and assist operators to produce quality parts at a rapid pace as per production requirements.
• Must be proficient in the operation of all CNC lathe equipment in the area including operating multiple machines at once.
• Must be able to operate and set up CNC mills up to and including 5 Axis & CNC lathes 2 Axis and above, Prototrak lathes, manual machines and grinders.
• Utilize all Standard Measuring Instruments, QMM, OGP and Optical Comparator and perform First Piece and ‘in process’ inspection as required to achieve acceptable reliability and repeatability targets.
• Must be proficient in machining thermoplastic and metal materials.
• Utilize required drawings, inspection sheets (generate new sheets as required)
• Operate ancillary equipment in the department.
• Record all information on GT data collection system as required
• Review and update all machine set-up documentation. Provide updated information to CNC programmer for inclusion in job documentation on a timely basis.
• Maintain good general housekeeping of work areas.
• Perform job in compliance with Greene, Tweed & Co. Quality Policy (AS9100 / ISO 9000).
• Participate in rotation of all machining equipment, as required.
• Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor including active participation in team meetings for operational planning and improvement ideas.
• Perform required basic equipment maintenance (top off or adding fluid/oil, reposition water and air lines) for all equipment assigned to the area.
• Perform all miscellaneous duties for the work area as directed
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• High School Diploma / GED
• Must have obtained minimum of 36 months CNC Lathe and Multi-axis Mill experience in a production environment including NC programming, set up, troubleshooting and run.
• Must be able to read, write and interpret engineer diagrams
• Must possess G-code knowledge and be able to edit CNC Programs for various lathes and mills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and safety shoes
• Ability to work long periods of time in a standing position
• Ability to occasionally work in positions requiring sitting and walking.
• Ability to occasionally work in positions requiring twisting, stooping, and grasping
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 55 pounds without the use of mechanical lifting devices or help from others.

OVERVIEW
Cadrex Southampton has a need to add an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to setup and operate CNC Lathes to produce a wide variety of complex machined parts. CNC machining experience, a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and the willingness and ability to learn are critical to success. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Setup and operate CNC Lathes for production of complex parts
+ Interpret engineering drawings and process sheets to determine work requirements
+ Prove out and edit G Code based CNC programs
+ Inspect machined parts through use of mechanical inspection tools, CMMs, and gages to validate that parts conform to engineering drawing requirements
+ Be accountable for the quality of work performed, including, but not limited to:
+ Applying appropriate inspection methods for your process
+ Ensuring proper completion of quality documentation associated with your process
+ Maintaining a clean and orderly work environment
+ Ensuring proper workmanship, handling, and deburring of parts
+ Contribute ideas that eliminate waste and ensure continuous improvement of production processes

+ Understanding of GDT a plus.

+ Working knowledge of speeds and feeds
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills a must
