JOB SUMMARY: The Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Table Trainer faculty member is well versed and experienced in all phases of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine techniques. Responsibilities include observing and instructing Osteopathic medical students as they practice Osteopathic Manipulative techniques on each other during laboratory sessions. The successful candidate will also be capable of laboratory demonstration and instruction of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine techniques.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The following are a list of Academic Exercises that may be required as a member of the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Table Trainer from time to time:

+ Serve as OMM techniques’ instructor during laboratory sessions;

+ Prepare OMM laboratory demonstrations as necessary, coordinating these educational tools with other faculty members;

+ Participate in OMM practical examination grading by direct observation;

+ Aid in the evaluation of students’ mastery of the skills and information being taught and help to identify and remediate students that lack proficiency in these areas;

+ Attend team meetings approved by COM that require advancement of your profession;

+ Perform other faculty duties as directed by your supervisor, to include Interviewing prospective students, providing scholarly activity or research projects, serving on committees, advising students, and/or serving as advisor to a club appropriate for your training/interests;

+ Must be able to take direction and receive assignments from the OPP Course Director and Assistant Dean of Pre-Clinical Education;

+ Must be available for work during the hours agreed upon, for student instruction and assessment; and

+ Accept other duties assigned/needed for the Institution’s needs.

Minimum Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS : Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

+ Knowledge of OMM techniques and the ability to demonstrate and monitor such techniques;

+ Compliance with State and Federal Regulations and Safety Protocols;

+ Knowledge of student and patient’s privacy (i.e. FERPA, HIPAA…etc.);

+ Follow proper OSHA and safety guidelines; Protect equipment (office, facility…etc.);

+ Strong communications skills are essential as well as computer literacy (MS Office Suit ) and accurate data entry skills;

+ Excellent organizational skills;

+ Must be accurate and attentive to detail;

+ Effectively use interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy;

+ Effectively use organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through;

+ Maintain confidentiality of work related information and materials;

+ Work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations;

+ Report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM; and

+ Accept work directives from managers and supervisors in a respectful and cooperative manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :Education and experience equivalent to: D.O. degree required; teaching experience in academia with two to five (2-5) years’ or more of experience practicing preferred.
