**Who will you be working with?**

You will be working with Supply Chain, Engineering, and IT organizations to ensure that we meet their specific project requirements while maintaining plant standards, safety regulations, and providing a cost-effective and high-quality solution. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with multiple customers from each organization based on the business initiatives. You will also support the Plant Services organization with maintenance activities, facility repairs and upgrades, along with developing long term proposals to support the infrastructure. You will manage both internal and external resources which include various contractors, suppliers, and engineering firms.

**How will you make a difference?**

As a member of the Plant Engineering organization, you will be responsible for providing the structural expertise at the largest Wabtec facility with over 100 years of history. Along with developing customer requirements, generating concept and preliminary designs, putting together cost proposals, milestone schedules, and scope of work documents. You will also work with the indirect sourcing organization to obtain competitive quotes and manage the construction and commissioning phases. **What do we want to know about you?**

+ Bachelor’ degree in structural engineering from an accredited university or college with Professional Engineer certification or path to complete within 6-12 months.

+ Minimum of 5 years of Structural or Civil Engineering experience

**Desired Characteristics**

+ Master's degree in engineering or business discipline

+ Experience in facilities planning, fabrication and structural design, construction management, and industrial safety/environment

+ Project management Professional (PMP) certification

+ Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal/leadership skills, computer skills

+ Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking ability

+ Excellent planning/project management skills

+ Strong functional/working knowledge of electrical, mechanical engineering disciplines

+ Knowledge of the OSHA, NEC, NFPA, EHS, and state and local standards

+ Knowledge of schedule and resource planning techniques and software

+ Ability to review dynamic situations and make decisions quickly

+ Ability to derive detailed scope of work plans and coordinate contractors to perform tasks

+ Communicate and drive safety and quality while maintaining costs

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and understanding of estimation and budgeting process

+ Strong negotiation skills with customers, management, peers, and subordinates

+ Strong knowledge of contract administration; technical, legal and commercial

+ Familiarity with engineering and manufacturing processes and a technical background that provides value added customer interface

+ Software Knowledge: Bluebeam, Autocad, Revit, Risa (or similar), Microsoft Office

**What will your typical day look like?**

+ Provide engineering, in given discipline, for assigned projects: this includes developing customer requirements, drawings, specifications for the installations, modifications, rearrangements, or expansion of manufacturing spaces, processes, office, labs or test areas, and all landlord buildings / grounds / facilities utilizing professional engineering license to safely design and execute projects that improves Wabtec’s competitiveness for our customers.

+ Utilize professional engineering experience and participate in process improvement ideas while experimenting with the manufacturing process and help convert into engineering solutions while taking into consideration robust safety factors for the fabrication of assembly aids, lifting fixtures...etc to improve the safety, quality, and delivery of Wabtec operations.

+ Liaison between all involved parties, repeatedly inspects both the job site and design plans ensuring that all is compliant with regulations, building codes, and engineering/safety plant standards

+ Clearly understand the customer requirements and develop project statements, detailed scope of work, engineering/construction plans, resource planning, budget, schedules, and assess risks and mitigation plans

+ Ensure timely and efficient completion of facility/manufacturing projects, maintain high say/do ratio in a dynamic problem-solving environment

+ Assist staff members by identifying and executing facility/manufacturing projects

+ Manage and assist contract engineers, other firms/consultants, contractors, and internal maintenance labor

+ Field investigation of projects and coordinate design with other engineering disciplines.

+ Participate on the shop floor where the action is with cross-functional teams to improve the organizations processes and procedures

+ Develop and participate in design reviews and safety plan reviews

+ Clearly understand, communicate, and enforce internal safety program

+ Understand the facility and accounting cost structure, be able to create budgetary project costs, ability to create bid specifications for final scope of work, and be accountable for all project costs

+ Ability to read and translate electrical, mechanical, and structural/civil drawings

+ Manage all work orders and purchase orders for the tasks: create, invoice & receive

+ Maintain project records for future audits and reviews

+ Ability to perform structural engineering analysis of existing structures for modifications. Ability to complete structural calculations and construction documents for new construction ensuring compliance with IBC and other building codes.

+ Wabtec is committed to support and maintain the Professional Engineering certification process and continual education credits.

**What about the physical demands of the job?**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long durations of time and be mobile throughout the workday. Employee must be able to effectively communicate (talk and hear), and use hands and fingers to handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to operate a variety of automated office machines which includes a computer, printer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, etc. Must be able to move or carry objects or materials. Able to climb vertical ladders – approx. 20’-50’ vertical, comfortable with heights (access high bay bridge cranes and building roofs). Ability to drive and operate man lifts. Ability to operate overhead cranes – cab, remote, or pendant controlled.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
