The Post Acute Care Unit (PACU) at PPMC is seeking a full-time day shift CNA. The Post Acute Care Unit (PACU) provides a safe and comfortable environment for both patient and personnel to provide optimum assistance to the Surgeons and Anesthesiologists in meeting the emergency, preventive and restorative health needs of the patients.

**Job Summary:**

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a key member of the healthcare team, providing quality care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). This role involves assisting with patient care, reporting observations, and supporting overall patient needs while promoting excellent communication with the care team.

**Responsibilities:**

Patient Report & Communication

+ Receive shift report from RN and provide updates at the end of your shift.

+ Report any abnormalities to the RN and the oncoming team.

Patient Assessment Assistance

+ Identify patients per hospital policy before starting tasks.

+ Collect data such as vital signs, weight, height, blood sugar, and functional status.

+ Report any changes in patient condition to the RN.

+ Observe and report skin changes or breakdowns.

Care Planning & Implementation

+ Assist with setting realistic patient goals in collaboration with the RN.

+ Follow the RN’s care plan and report patient responses or any issues.

+ Provide updates on patient care to the RN as needed.

Patient Care Interventions

+ Promote infection control by following hand hygiene and isolation precautions.

+ Maintain a safe environment, especially for patients at risk of falls or other hazards.

+ Monitor patient responses to therapy (e.g., temperature, vital signs, pain).

+ Assist with daily activities such as bathing, grooming, feeding, transferring, and oral hygiene.

+ Provide support for bowel and bladder needs, including using bedpans or assisting with colostomy care.

+ Assist with oxygen therapy (under RN supervision).

+ Reinforce healthcare instructions as directed by the RN.

Collaboration & Reporting

+ Participate in team rounds and communicate key observations with the healthcare team.

+ Attend staff and unit meetings as required.

+ Work collaboratively with all team members to ensure excellent patient care.

**Credentials:**

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

+ CPR Certification (American Heart Association)

+ PA State-certified Nursing Assistant or enrolled in an accredited ASN/BSN program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

**Education:**

+ High School Diploma or GED required.

+ Graduate of a certified Nursing Assistant program or Matriculated in an accredited ASN/BSN Nursing Program preferred; minimally completed the nursing foundations/fundamentals clinical course with a 3.0 GPA overall and in the nursing major.
